Senryū For The Artist
Home is much better
Don’t you agree? Much better
To make art, instead
Senryū For The Music Lover
I do not care for
The shouting in the streets
Give me some Mozart
Senryū For The Homebody
I am a writer
I am not an activist
I’d rather stay home
About the Author
Lilli J. Matern is a writer and occasional poet. Lilli lives in Canada with her family and their senile pet parrot. She spends much of her time either writing or reading. When not writing or reading, Lilli likes to knit and drink tea.
A Senryū is a 3-line unrhymed Japanese poem structurally similar to haiku but treating human nature usually in an ironic or satiric vein. The word senryū means “river willow” in Japanese and is named after the poet and poetry judge Karai Senryū who popularized the form.
