Forgotten Light by Taylor Vu

A pulse suspended in ink
a silence that tastes like

the edge of time
curling around broken hours
and slipping beneath its skin.

I rise from the horizon
but do not break it.
A pale fracture in the quiet
felt only in the tremor
of the earth’s quiet exhale.

I unravel the night
woven from threads too fine to hold
humming through the silence
where obscurity breaks like obsidian
and stars spill their names
into the wind’s invisible breath.

When they sleep
I dance in the darkness

they do not care for
winding through the borders of thought.

I do not belong—
the light I cast
is not my own
but borrowed from something brighter.

And as the dark fades
I retreat—
waiting for the dark
to remember me again

instead of the sun it retreats for,

grovels for.
I am the thing that pales in comparison
to the sun.
